4. Complete Selection Process:
Step-by-Step
Konkan Railway follows a direct,
exam-free selection process to recruit Trainee Apprentices. Here is exactly how
the organization will select the final candidates:
Step 1: Merit List Preparation
- No Written Exam: There is absolutely NO written
examination or personal interview for this recruitment!
- Merit Calculation: The selection will be purely
based on merit. A merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate
percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying degree/diploma examination
(sum of all years/semesters).
- Tie-Breaker Rule: If two or more candidates end
up with the exact same percentage, the candidate who is senior in age
(older) will be placed higher on the merit list.
Step 2: Document Verification (DV)
- Candidates shortlisted in the
merit list will be called for Document Verification. They will be called
in a ratio of 1:3 (three times the number of actual vacancies).
- Crucial Condition: Applicants must possess a
valid and approved NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme) ID.
Candidates without a valid NATS ID will be rejected immediately at this
stage.
Step 3: Medical Fitness & Final
Appointment
- The final appointment is
subject to the candidate producing a valid medical fitness certificate
certified by a Government Doctor (not below the rank of Assistant
Surgeon).
- Once cleared, the candidate
will be enrolled for a one-year apprenticeship training program.

10. Common Mistakes to Avoid While
Applying
Many candidates make small errors
that lead to their applications getting rejected. Make sure to avoid these
common mistakes:
- Not having a NATS ID: Applying on the KRCL website
without first getting an approved NATS ID from the government portal will
lead to instant rejection.
- Applying if passed before 2021: Only candidates who passed
their degree/diploma between 2021 and 2025 are eligible. Older graduates
will be disqualified.
- Uploading smudged documents: If your photograph or
signature is unclear, your application may be outright rejected.
- Making mistakes before final
submission:
Take your time to review everything. No changes or corrections are
permitted after final submission.
- Failing to pay the fee: For General and OBC
candidates, the application is incomplete until the ₹100 fee is
