4. Complete Selection Process: Step-by-Step

Konkan Railway follows a direct, exam-free selection process to recruit Trainee Apprentices. Here is exactly how the organization will select the final candidates:

Step 1: Merit List Preparation

  • No Written Exam: There is absolutely NO written examination or personal interview for this recruitment!
  • Merit Calculation: The selection will be purely based on merit. A merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying degree/diploma examination (sum of all years/semesters).
  • Tie-Breaker Rule: If two or more candidates end up with the exact same percentage, the candidate who is senior in age (older) will be placed higher on the merit list.

Step 2: Document Verification (DV)

  • Candidates shortlisted in the merit list will be called for Document Verification. They will be called in a ratio of 1:3 (three times the number of actual vacancies).
  • Crucial Condition: Applicants must possess a valid and approved NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme) ID. Candidates without a valid NATS ID will be rejected immediately at this stage.

Step 3: Medical Fitness & Final Appointment

  • The final appointment is subject to the candidate producing a valid medical fitness certificate certified by a Government Doctor (not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon).
  • Once cleared, the candidate will be enrolled for a one-year apprenticeship training program.

5. Exam Pattern for Trainee Apprentices

  • Important Note: There is NO written examination or online test for this recruitment process! The entire selection is purely merit-based depending on your degree or diploma marks.

6. Application Fee

Candidates must pay the application fee through online mode only using Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.

  • General & OBC Candidates: ₹100/-
  • SC/ST/EWS/Minorities/Women Candidates: ₹0/- (Nil)

  3. Uploading smudged documents: If your photograph or signature is unclear, your application may be outright rejected.
